Some Programs and Services Offered Include:

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) - supplemental help for winter heating bills - November 1st through April 15th

LIHEAP Crisis Assistance - Assistance available in a life threatening situation for temporary shelter, fuel, blankets, heaters and furnace repair. Upon availability of funding, furnace repair or replacement is available to homeowners.

Weatherization - Assistance with stopping infiltration of cold air into a home. Can include caulking, weather stripping and attic insulation.

Chore Service- Funds household chores for income eligible applicants age 60 and older.

Emergency Vouchers - Provides eligible applicants with limited financial help for basic emergency needs.

Multi Community Church Assistance Fund - Provides residents of Spencer assistance for rent or utility needs.

Emergency Food Pantries - 7 to 10 day supply of food for those who are out of food or have limited resources to purchase or obtain food.

Food Bank - Variety of food and sundry items. HyVee Bakery bread available daily.

Food for Life - Meat which has been inspected and donated by area farmers. Available on an every other month basis; based on income and family size.

Referral Services- Information on a wide variety of services available in Northwest Iowa for those faced with situations they find difficult to solve.

Client Advocacy - Assistance when help is needed with providers, organizations or difficult situations.

Budget Counseling - Help for those experiencing difficulty managing their financial obligations.

Youth Enrichment – provision for disadvantaged youth in Clay County with financial resources to participate in youth activities that they would not be able to afford without the project’s help. Spencer Family Y Scholarship applications offered seasonally.

Special Projects - Clay County Community Christmas programs, new hats and gloves, school supplies and more based on need and availability. Children's Birthday Coupons.
